A new name that has been in my instagram.

She is big apparently OK. I just discovered her recently. Bak kata hari hari lah nak tengok instagram dia ni. Oh and shes a writer. One of my favourite is :

This is from her book, Puisi Tepi Jalan. Apparently it has reach its 4th print. How cool is that haaa! I should really get one of these babies. Personally I like the way she writes coz its short. Straight to the point. And the best part is, you know its from the heart. It's like she just writes whatever that come to her. No filter. Hehe. Maybe that is why some people find her a bit offensive. But then again, I've already come to a conclusion that some people just have nothing better to do. True enough, if you don't like someone, just unfriend her. You don't like her photos, just unfollow. No room for hatred kan. Semua sayang menyayangi.

Actually dulu I pun nak jadi writer. I always have this passion for writing. But of course when its in the head it sounds much nicer than when it's on paper. Having a blog have always been my dream. But i never got around to do it due to other commitments bla bla. Buta IT aku ini sebenarnya. Alhamdullilah, now I have one.

As for poetry, boleh la sikit sikit. Setakat menang best poem in UIA masa student dulu. Hehe. But sadly, i submitted the poem and didnt keep a copy for myself. Haih. And after school i actually applied to study English Literature. Ntah macamana end up in health science.

I havent thought of poetry for so so long. So lets just try to make one for Hussein.

What choice do we have?

A question that has kept me going.

There was this one time, when I had to drive alone to Mutiara Damansara. Siapa yang kenal Suraya memang tahu yang my navigation skill sangat sangat sangat la teruk. And I ended up lost ntah ke mana. But the funny thing is...I kept going the opposite direction, HOPING that it will become the correct direction. Terus je ke depan, padahal the correct way was for me to just stop and make a U-turn. That's when I realize, in life we tend to take the same approach. We know..we are in the wrong direction..but we keep going, HOPING that it will one day miraculously bring you to your destination. If you all fikir macam ni...hentikanla angan-angan tu. Just STOP. ANALYZE. Turn.

Ramai orang tanya, kenapa I beriya buat business ni?  Tak sayang ke masa yang tak dapat spend dengan family sekarang ni? Tak kesian ke anak you tak banyak masa dengan you? You tak penat ke buat semua ni? and of course yang paling favourite is...Tak cukup ke gaji yang dapat sekarang ni?

To be honest, at first I too was questioning myself, why am I doing all these. Balik kerja, penat..baik tengok TV je..lepak dengan family. Weekend boleh main-main dengan anak I, keluar shopping dengan husband I. Gaji memang cukup. Lebih dari cukup sebenarnya.

Tapi pernah tak kita realize, kita kerja teruk macamana pun, gaji kita still banyak tu. Mungkin la dapat overtime yang tak seberapa. I'm not being greedy. I'm talking about having a sense of self-value. You spend nearly 10  hours everyday away from your home just so that you earn a piece of cheque..yang by the end of the month will be gone.

And so we sit, and think...where did this go wrong. Betul ke hidup ni patut macam ni? Patut ke kita kerja and gaji tu memang patut habis every month? How about savings then? People say, diversify la..put in ASB, put in Mutual fund. Memang boleh save...berjanggut la nak tunggu..hehe

Semua orang sedia maklum. Kerja makan gaji takkan kaya. TIDAK AKAN. That's a fact. Bukan cerita penglipurlara. And when we say kaya..it is your own definition of what rich is. Being rich for me is not about owning 20 Chanel bags (although that doesn't hurt ;) ). Kaya to me is just to have enough for my family, my son, my mom, my dad & hubbs to live comfortably without being robbed of our time together. And I feel that that is achieveable.

Tapi eventhough i say all these, I still kerja makan gaji. Sebab kita TAKUT. Kalau tak makan gaji, takut nanti makan pasir. hehe. Bukan perlu terus membabi buta berhenti kerja. Kena ada plan, kena ada system, kena ada strategy. Yang penting, tengok apa mentor you buat. Jika dia berjaya...InsyAllah you pun akan berjaya..

And it all goes back to the question..


What choice do we have?

Knowledge
To have knowledge is like having your own power to do something. Pernah tak buat presentation about something that you are not sure of, compared to something yang you memang tahu inside out. That is the power of knowledge. Kalau tahu, memang confident kita cakap. All questions bak datang la orang kata. Answers at fingertips sahaja. In this business, knowledge is readily provided and shared by great people who have exprienced in first hand. Bukan setakat baca buku saja. Praktikal, demo, one to one session, semua ada.

Mentor
This is like what Dr Azizan cakap. Having a mentor is actually really important for you to get your ass up and do something different in your life. As for Suraya, a mentor is my inspiration la orang kata. Because I've never had any experience in doing business. Adala dulu dulu jual nasi lemak dekat UIA..hehe. So memang padanlah, my mentor is Lynn Shukor, who runs her own family business and memang hebat pasal business. Tambah lagi pulak kak Salha yang memang sangat sangat helpful and if you duduk dekat dia, you will get her positive vibe. Aura yang baik gitu.

System
Inilah tools untuk business. Banyak betul yang available nowadays kan! Business at your fingertip. Omnipreneur. Anywhere, Anytime. There are sooo many platforms that you can buikd your business on. And on top of all that, mentor still akan guide you. Kak Salha selalu cakap, semua dah guide, dah suluh. Kita tinggal ikut je.

Silent Killer...the remedy

Biozone Food Purifier.

Yes. Purify your food. Please. You wouldn't know what is lurking under that fried chicken you are eating. Let's face it. Not many of us go through all the trouble to eat organic food or 'ayam kampung'. Kudos to all who does. But for those who doesn't, don't fret. This is why we need a Biozone Food Purifier. I received many enquiries regarding my previous entry. Many are asking what has Top Leaders Circle (TLC) got to do with SoHonista.

Top Leaders Circle IS SoHonista Icon.

Kak Salha, as the TLC leader also gave an inspirational talk on HOW she became and successful sohonista. And how it is achieveable by people out there who wants to become one.

Why is she chosen as an icon? 
Simply because she has proven that with SoHo business, one can be successful.

What business is she in?
She pioneers the network franchising business. What made her successful? Online marketing (and willpower of course).

And what is TLC again?

For those who are asking, what is SoHonista? It is actually a national platform to help us to do business online,SoHo style (Small Office Home Office), where we can do business anywhere, anytime. I was so touched when Dato' Sri Shahrizat recognized the problem we face nowadays, especially young mothers, regarding child care. I truly felt thankful that there are powerful people who are concern about the fact that full time working women are spending more time at work rather than with their children.

Honestly, Suraya sendiri memang tak pernah terfikir nak set up bisnes sendiri, nak kerja sendiri. Memang in my mind, I study hard, get good grades and get a good job. That's it. But bila dah kahwin, dah ada anak, parents pun dah berumur..I start to doubt my decision. WHY am I spending so much time outside of home, when I am needed at home. My family needs me at home. My SON needs me at home.

Second Income

Everyone needs it.

Well, if you are already earning a 5-6 figure income then you may not need to read my entire entry. This entry is dedicated to those, young couple (perasan sikit muda) like me, who is STILL trying to make ends meet. Kalau dulu parents advice, study hard, get a good job. Dulu boleh la buat macam ni. Tapi sekarang..hmmm macam dah tak relevant.
Sekarang semua orang cari second income. Semua mata dah terbuka. Kenapa?

Sebab cost of living sangatlah tinggi
Sebab increment gaji setiap tahun sangat sikit
Sebab harga rumah dah menjadi ridiculous
Sebab kalau masuk hospital u need at least 10k. (I am not kidding, I work in a hospital)
Sebab duit EPF takkan dapat tampung hidup masa tua kita
Sebab kita tak cukup duit langsung untuk buat savings

Ini tak termasuk yang untuk beli handbag, untuk travel, untuk bagi parents, untuk belanja kawan, untuk birthday present....

Jadi, haruslah ada sikit side income. Macam mana nak buat side income? Sangat busy la katakan..Enter the correct channel. There's no such thing as 'Skim Cepat Kaya'. Kalau ada semua orang dah jadi kaya. But there is, a smart way to try and generate second income. An income that can help you do a little bit of difference in your life. A smart way where everything that you do will be guided and mentored. Where your steps will be monitored by experienced onces. A way where your time will be optimized rather than wasted. And that is the way that I am venturing in. I've tasted my second income and it FELT awesome. The feeling that I can make a difference is GREAT.

Stroke at 35

Impossible u say?

I can't imagine how it must feel like too. Having a stroke at the age of 35. A patient of mine. When Suraya scan dia tadi, his wife was with him. And you can see wife dia serba kusut. Tak tahu nak buat apa, nak react macam mana. Suraya sendiri tak dapat bayangkan kalau jadi dekat Hafiz. 35 tu kira prime age, when your family is growing, anak-anak masih kecil, career is booming, baru nak stabilizekan segala benda. Then, BOOM. Stroke. Tentu terkejut dan tak disangka.

How does it happen? Well stroke happens when blood flow tak sampai ke brain. It can happen due to blood clot or burst of blood vessel. Usually people with high blood pressure ada risk yang lebih tinggi untuk dapat stroke. One of my colleague dulu, stroke lepas makan 3 biji durian. Memang killer betul durian ni. Some more orang yang ada diabetes, high cholesterol sepatutnya lebih berjaga-jaga. Anything can happen. Things are happening now, faster than you can imagine.

Memang boleh baik and get back to normal. Tapi it all takes time and of course patience. Bila tengok benda-benda macam ni jadi depan mata, barula kita tahu apa tu nikmat SIHAT. Baru kita akan bersyukur yang kita ni sihat dan takut sangat kalau Allah tarik nikmat ni. Tapi kita makan pun tak pernah jaga. Medical checkup pun tak pernah buat. Selalunya kita memang take for granted yang kita ni akan sihat sampai bila-bila.

So entry ni sebenarnya sebagai reminder to all of you and to me as well. Jaga kesihatan kita. Jaga nikmat ni sebab kita kena ingat, kita juga mungkin akan diuji macam ni...Suraya and family memang amalkan garam buluh untuk cuba kurangkan risiko dapat stroke.

Ameda at work

For all the FTWM, I heart you..

For those yang memang full time kerja and breastfeeding, all I can say is, always REMEMBER, we ARE giving the BEST to our baby. Even at work. ada je orang yang tanya, apala Suraya susah-susah nak pump. Susu tin kan ada. Lagi-lagi kita kerja kat hospital, selalu je dapat susu free. My answer is always..tak apa, my milk is also free..hehe.

Memang sangat mencabar to keep up with the pumping schedule. By right. pump every 3 hours. But for those yang kerja at hospitals mesti faham, our time will be determined by patient flow. Selagi tak habis patient, selagi tu la kita tak free. So for me, kadang-kadang ter-stretch la sampai 4-5 hours. Pump pun dalam store. Tapi Suraya rasa agak untung, sebab just next to my room. For mothers yang kena pegi surau, other floors, mungkin agak susah kan.

Since my workplace is very busy, I can only pump twice at work. That was the very main reason why Suraya beli a double pumping electronic breast pump. To save time. I only allocate 10 minutes for pumping. And to date, I don't keep many stocks of FBM for Hussein, only ada about 50 oz.

Every morning before work, I will feed Hussein. That will be around 8 am. Then at work, first pumping session should be at 11 am. Depends la..kalau sempat. If not around 12 pm. Pump for 10 minutes. I use the AMEDA LACTALINE dual pump. After 10 minutes, Suraya usually finish off with hand expression (Please make sure use the correct Marmet's technique to avoid tissue injury)  So far, Alhamdullilah, every session akan dapat about 7-8 oz.

What's good about Ameda pump ni is tak banyak parts nak cuci. Senang sangat nak assemble. After first session, simpan semua parts dalam tupperware and simpan dalam fridge, no need to wash. And then the next session will be 3 hours later. Usually around 2 - 3 pm. Just take the parts and assemble. Again another 10 minutes and finish off with hand expression. The pump, Suraya tak bawak balik pun. So I don't have any issues of Ameda being bulky. Memang the purpose is just for pumping at work. To me, its great cos its fast and the yield pun OK. Tapi pump tu tak berat pun. Much smaller than a Spectra. Ad but of course tak boleh la nak compare dengan Medela Freestyle. Harga pun jauh lebih murah !

At home, I pump using my beloved Avent manual. I always opt for tandem pumping. I find that the yield is more. Suraya pump two or three times je kat rumah ; back from work, at night and early in the morning. To me, Insyallah walaupun tak banyak stock, my rotation is still sufficient.

For those looking for pumps, my advice is, always know what you want your pump to do. If you were to carry it around, if you want it to be small, if you need it to be fast..etc. But of course, if you have the budget apa salahnya splurge..hehe.

Finding good cakes is really hard! Don't you think so? Cake yang paling frustrating would be cake yang LAWA tapi tak sedap. Indah rupa dari rasa. Ini memang top spoiler. So here I would like to share my top three cake stop. Ada banyak actually, but let's not get too ambitious.. Hehe

I first tasted these lovelies during my aunt's raya gathering. It was super delicious that I think I had like 3 slices. So light & full of flavour! The name itself means millions of crepe. But seriously, it is just awesome. Imagine having something creamy running down your throat and the taste lingers. Woooh. Ever since then, whenever we have dinner party, we'll get this cake from Food Foundry. My personal favourite is vanilla. There are other flavours tho, chocolate & strawberry. But vanilla is the best !

Actually I love all! the cupcakes by them. I bought them for Lynn Shukor's birthday a couple of years back. A must try for chocolate lovers. Masa tu macam..watttt!!! Why your cupcakes is 10 bux each? Kalau beli 10, dah macam beli whole cake. Tapi bila rasa, baru justify the price. Worth the money. And The Terrace is also a nice place to chill in the evening, gossip with the girls or just read a book and enjoy your cuppa. They also have outlets at other places. Do check it out :)

The Royal cake of French. Like seriously. It was given as a gift from the ever so generous Jasmin Halim to my lovely sister, Lynn Shukor. But Lynn decided it was too sinful for her to keep it by herself so she brought over some to us. I was so glad she did! Sedapnya..sampai Suraya sorok sikit dalam fridge. Hehe. The texture is superb. Made of Belgian chocolate, and then got like crunchy texture in every bite. Whatever it is, you gotta try this cake.

Flavours, Bangsar

Owned by none other than celebrity chef, Chef Riz.

We were there to celebrate my beloved mentor, Lynnshukor's birthday. Surprise birthday dinner organized by Salhazain. Memang best kak Salha ni, with her it's always about building great relationship. It was a wonderful experience! Entertained by a multitalented performer, Abang Bo. Birthday greetings from all over the world! Memang performance dia tiptop!

The food was great and suprisingly affordable. I had the beef wraps while hubs had the mushroom melt.

A few of us had pasta. The house speciality is apparently pasta with 'cili padi'. Not for the faint hearted ya. Memang pedas! Yang health concious ordered 'chicken...apa ntah'. It is written in the menu tho, for a healthier substitute. But it is YUMS.

The birthday girl had loads of fun. Siap ada Abang Bo, Mr Ammar & Chef Riz himself sang for her!! Chef Riz's rendition of Belaian Jiwa is definitely to die for. A man who can cook and sing..hmmm :)

HELP!

Snatch thieves.

This is the second time jadi right in front of rumah Suraya. Dua orang budak perempuan, tengah jalan and suddenly datang motor snatch bag budak perempuan tu. And itu MAIN road ok! Kesian, budak Melayu muda. Menangis-nangis budak tu. Last time, orang Korea yang kena. Yang ragut tu pun mungkin Melayu. Pernah sekali jadi dekat jalan ni jugak, tapi depan sikit. Depan tadika baru "Brainy Bunch : Islamic Montessori", situ ada kedai nasi lemak. Ada brother kat kedai nasi lemak baling kerusi ok dekat snatcher tu. Tapi dia tak jatuh pun, kerusi je yang patah.

Terkejut, takut dan macam-macam lagi lah yang rasa. Sebab kalau nak fikirkan, benda tu boleh je jadi dekat kita sendiri. Plus bila benda ni jadi depan rumah kita sendiri, mula lah kita ingat bukan-bukan. If they can snatch, Suraya sure diorang pun ada capability untuk curi masuk rumah kan. Kasut kitorang dekat luar rumah ni pun, dah jadi macam kasut wakaf. Kalau ada yang cantik sikit tertinggal kat luar rumah, memang pagi esok confirm takda.

Suraya dulu pun pernah kena rob masa naik taxi. Masa tu I was only 16. Bayangkan, budak lagi. Memang terkejut la, traumatize pun ada. Driver tu siap keluarkan parang lagi. Experience macam tu memang jadikan Suraya over cautious, and paranoid kadang-kadang. Tapi susah nak explain dekat orang yang tak pernah kena. Kita akan sentiasa rasa diri kita tak selamat. Semenjak dari tu, memang jarang naik taxi. Kalau naik pun, mesti akan duduk belakang pasenger's seat and prepare any weapon in case anything happens.

Another experience is kereta kena pecah. Ni jadi time student kat UIA Kuantan. But this one I have to admit, it was my fault. Park dah la kat tempat sunyi, lepas tu letak pulak laptop atas seat belakang. Memang langsung tak teringat masa tu. Kirim salam la jawabnya, habis je makan, tengok cermin dah pecah, laptop pun hilang. Report polis pun tak guna.

Jadi, Suraya harap la..kita jaga betul-betul diri kita. Sebab, kalau kena rompak, kena curi satu hal. Kalau kena benda lain, kan dah jadi macam-macam hal. Always make sure, tak ada ruang yang boleh mengundang benda-benda buruk ni dari terjadi. Memang, kalau dah takdir, akan jadi jugak. Tapi ambik contoh kereta Suraya yang kena pecah tu. Kalau tak tinggal laptop mesti tak kena pecah kan :)

Apa Suraya selalu amalkan is :

1. Jangan jalan sorang-sorang
2. Jangan bawak handbag tali panjang. (Sling bag paling safe rasanya)
3. Bawak weapon. Anything yang boleh protect kita. Dalam kereta Suraya ada kayu golf. hehe
4. Always, always, always tengok sekeliling kita. Kalau ada yang mencurigakan, tolong be aware.
5. Do NOT attract people. Contohnya, jangan cakap phone masa tengah jalan, jangan letak phone atas meja makan...things like that.
6. And yang bawak kereta, tolong make sure kereta sentiasa kunci. SENTIASA. Especially dekat petrol pump.

Memang nampak remeh. Husband Suraya cukup semak kalau sebut pasal benda-benda ni. But I always remind him, awak tak pernah kena..sebab tu awak tak faham. Kalau terkena sekali, barulah nanti nak jaga-jaga. And by that time, kan dah terlambat. Jangan la jadi macam tu ok ?

And pencuri sekarang dah makin creative dan sangat-sangat berani. Tengok la ni..

Remember the saying ' A journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step' ?. So here I am, receiving the award for having the courage to take the first step.

The award was filled with many many aspiring people, just like me, wanting to make changes. Wanting something extra out of their life. And I am happy that I have chosen this step. Having the courage to do so. Of course guided with great leaders and mentors.

CDM Aimi Natasha gave a speech on that day. She actually cried on stage while she was giving the speech. A speech on how she strive in the business. And I totally understand how it feels like. The reason behind this business. The need to do it. The willpower it takes to do it. Only YOU and YOUR reason can keep you going. And yes, I have my reasons.

A responsibility as a daughter, a mother, a wife, a sister and a friend. Memang sedih bila terpaksa spend half of the day outside, catering to others needs, when we are needed at home, to be with our family, our loved ones. And knowing that I will HAVE to do the same thing for the next 20 -30 years..scares me. Not everyone have the luxury to just quit their job. There are of course many things at stake. Medical, security, reposibilities.....Masya-Allah.

So with this step, I pray for the best. I pray for a lot of things, but more importantly I pray for time, quality time with my loved ones.

My Story

Everytime nak jumpa client, mesti Suraya akan cerita my own experience while wearing Premium Beautiful. So rasanya baik terus share dekat sinilah.

First, my post pregnancy body, Alhamdullillah, sama macam pre pregnancy, if not, better. Ini sangat penting okay...untuk self confidence (especially for someone like me yang memang ada weight issues). Baju pun tak perlu beli baru.

Then, my problem sembelit hilang, vanish, nada. It's funny but it's true. The second day Suraya pakai PB, I can go to the loo naturally. Siapa yang ada masalah sembelit ni akan faham apa yang Suraya maksudkan. Punyala seksa ya masalah sembelit ni. Lagi-lagi lepas delivery.

As for breastfeeding moms, ini memang ramai yang akui, susu memang akan jadi banyak. Suraya selalu pump 2-3 ounces je per session. 2 days after pakai PB, my supply went up to 6 ounces. Dah tak cukup satu botol.

And I used to have side/back pain, cos of the way I sit while working. So far, no matter how busy work is, sampai 30 orang patient pun, I don't have the side pain anymore.

This is how I sit at work.
 Cuma my chair takda tempat sandar.
 Imagine kalau 30 patient, memang rasa nak patah pinggang.

Miracle you say? I was quite surprised too at first. But after reading back the scientific facts of PB, then it make sense. We'll go through the scientific facts next time ya!
