Fynn Jamal

A new name that has been in my instagram.

She is big apparently OK. I just discovered her recently. Bak kata hari hari lah nak tengok instagram dia ni. Oh and shes a writer. One of my favourite is :

PEJAM BOHONG

Pejam.
dan semua akan aman.

Bohong.

This is from her book, Puisi Tepi Jalan. Apparently it has reach its 4th print. How cool is that haaa! I should really get one of these babies. Personally I like the way she writes coz its short. Straight to the point. And the best part is, you know its from the heart. It's like she just writes whatever that come to her. No filter. Hehe. Maybe that is why some people find her a bit offensive. But then again, I've already come to a conclusion that some people just have nothing better to do. True enough, if you don't like someone, just unfriend her. You don't like her photos, just unfollow. No room for hatred kan. Semua sayang menyayangi.

Actually dulu I pun nak jadi writer. I always have this passion for writing. But of course when its in the head it sounds much nicer than when it's on paper. Having a blog have always been my dream. But i never got around to do it due to other commitments bla bla. Buta IT aku ini sebenarnya. Alhamdullilah, now I have one.

As for poetry, boleh la sikit sikit. Setakat menang best poem in UIA masa student dulu. Hehe. But sadly, i submitted the poem and didnt keep a copy for myself. Haih. And after school i actually applied to study English Literature. Ntah macamana end up in health science.

I havent thought of poetry for so so long. So lets just try to make one for Hussein.

A loan. A reminder

I am thankful for my bundle of joy
An easy one to entertain with his toy
The exact duplicate of daddy
And mamas size 9 feet
I wish you well i wish you shine
Now off you go
Go on & get to know world

Ok that doesnt sound quite right.

XOXO,
Suraya SK

Flavours, Bangsar

Owned by none other than celebrity chef, Chef Riz.

We were there to celebrate my beloved mentor, Lynnshukor's birthday. Surprise birthday dinner organized by Salhazain. Memang best kak Salha ni, with her it's always about building great relationship. It was a wonderful experience! Entertained by a multitalented performer, Abang Bo. Birthday greetings from all over the world! Memang performance dia tiptop!

Abg Bo & Mr Amar rocking the stage
The food was great and suprisingly affordable. I had the beef wraps while hubs had the mushroom melt.
A few of us had pasta. The house speciality is apparently pasta with 'cili padi'. Not for the faint hearted ya. Memang pedas! Yang health concious ordered 'chicken...apa ntah'. It is written in the menu tho, for a healthier substitute. But it is YUMS.

Mushroom melt - flavoursbangsar

The birthday girl had loads of fun. Siap ada Abang Bo, Mr Ammar & Chef Riz himself sang for her!! Chef Riz's rendition of Belaian Jiwa is definitely to die for. A man who can cook and sing..hmmm :)

With Chef Riz

And of course yang tak tidur malam tu semestinya my little man. Terkejut tengok multi talented performance by Abang Bo agaknya !

Kudos to Flavours Bangsar and team. Will come here again. For the food and the entertainment!

HELP!

Snatch thieves.

This is the second time jadi right in front of rumah Suraya. Dua orang budak perempuan, tengah jalan and suddenly datang motor snatch bag budak perempuan tu. And itu MAIN road ok! Kesian, budak Melayu muda. Menangis-nangis budak tu. Last time, orang Korea yang kena. Yang ragut tu pun mungkin Melayu. Pernah sekali jadi dekat jalan ni jugak, tapi depan sikit. Depan tadika baru "Brainy Bunch : Islamic Montessori", situ ada kedai nasi lemak. Ada brother kat kedai nasi lemak baling kerusi ok dekat snatcher tu. Tapi dia tak jatuh pun, kerusi je yang patah.

Terkejut, takut dan macam-macam lagi lah yang rasa. Sebab kalau nak fikirkan, benda tu boleh je jadi dekat kita sendiri. Plus bila benda ni jadi depan rumah kita sendiri, mula lah kita ingat bukan-bukan. If they can snatch, Suraya sure diorang pun ada capability untuk curi masuk rumah kan. Kasut kitorang dekat luar rumah ni pun, dah jadi macam kasut wakaf. Kalau ada yang cantik sikit tertinggal kat luar rumah, memang pagi esok confirm takda.

Suraya dulu pun pernah kena rob masa naik taxi. Masa tu I was only 16. Bayangkan, budak lagi. Memang terkejut la, traumatize pun ada. Driver tu siap keluarkan parang lagi. Experience macam tu memang jadikan Suraya over cautious, and paranoid kadang-kadang. Tapi susah nak explain dekat orang yang tak pernah kena. Kita akan sentiasa rasa diri kita tak selamat. Semenjak dari tu, memang jarang naik taxi. Kalau naik pun, mesti akan duduk belakang pasenger's seat and prepare any weapon in case anything happens.

Another experience is kereta kena pecah. Ni jadi time student kat UIA Kuantan. But this one I have to admit, it was my fault. Park dah la kat tempat sunyi, lepas tu letak pulak laptop atas seat belakang. Memang langsung tak teringat masa tu. Kirim salam la jawabnya, habis je makan, tengok cermin dah pecah, laptop pun hilang. Report polis pun tak guna.

Jadi, Suraya harap la..kita jaga betul-betul diri kita. Sebab, kalau kena rompak, kena curi satu hal. Kalau kena benda lain, kan dah jadi macam-macam hal. Always make sure, tak ada ruang yang boleh mengundang benda-benda buruk ni dari terjadi. Memang, kalau dah takdir, akan jadi jugak. Tapi ambik contoh kereta Suraya yang kena pecah tu. Kalau tak tinggal laptop mesti tak kena pecah kan :)

Apa Suraya selalu amalkan is :

1. Jangan jalan sorang-sorang
2. Jangan bawak handbag tali panjang. (Sling bag paling safe rasanya)
3. Bawak weapon. Anything yang boleh protect kita. Dalam kereta Suraya ada kayu golf. hehe
4. Always, always, always tengok sekeliling kita. Kalau ada yang mencurigakan, tolong be aware.
5. Do NOT attract people. Contohnya, jangan cakap phone masa tengah jalan, jangan letak phone atas meja makan...things like that.
6. And yang bawak kereta, tolong make sure kereta sentiasa kunci. SENTIASA. Especially dekat petrol pump.

Memang nampak remeh. Husband Suraya cukup semak kalau sebut pasal benda-benda ni. But I always remind him, awak tak pernah kena..sebab tu awak tak faham. Kalau terkena sekali, barulah nanti nak jaga-jaga. And by that time, kan dah terlambat. Jangan la jadi macam tu ok ?

And pencuri sekarang dah makin creative dan sangat-sangat berani. Tengok la ni..

Stay safe people!

Turban Fever

AzuraAzwa.

Yes, the mother of turban in Malaysia. Her collections are GORGEOUS! My personal favourite is the Qamar Turban Scarf..oooooooo canteknya!!

Qamar Turban Scarf

But since I can't wait to get ahold of my own Qamar, I start 'googling' and found a nice hijab tutorial by our very own stylish blogger, AmiScahaeera, Thanx Ami! I also call it the 'croissant tudung'. Tried it with my Zara scarf, and it works! Varies a bit with Qamar but, yeah I think it might work.

Ok....bila dah letak sekali nampak pulak lain bebenor..

Shine bright like a diamond!

They say Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend..

Sorry Marilyn Monroe, I gotta disagree with you. The thing is, a BEST FRIEND is supposed to make you feel better. And what makes me feel better is knowing that I look good. Bukan nak tak suka diamond, hehe tipulahkan. But if given a choice, to look good or to have diamonds, I would choose to LOOK GOOD. Don't we all?  And to look good, you gotta feel good. Remember how it feels like when you have a good hair day, a good face day..or a good anything day? Now, that's what I feel when I wear my Premium Beautiful. Bonus is...I feel it everyday! Gotta wear it to feel it yo'

I FEEL GOOD~

o0o0o0 Yeahh!!

Hussein's Aqiqah

My boy is 2 months :)

I wanted to do it BIG! Of course la first son kan..Nak buat with the flowers, with the deco, with the candy buffet...

Lawa kan? But no, ours was not like this..

We had a simple, quiet, small scale aqiqah instead. Which I am happy with, no hustle and bustle. Ustaz Fadhil came and gave a tazkirah. A very good one indeed. Regarding how small babies should always be shielded from sihir 'ain (mata). Ustaz did mention yang sihir 'ain ni hadith dhaif, but he also adviced us to still take extra precaution.
Sihir 'Ain comes from pandangan mata orang, sama ada pandangan yang tajam ataupun pandangan kekaguman. So it happens when somebody approaches the baby and compliments them:

"Comelnya baby", "Putihnya baby"......etc, usually unintentional.

Baby yang terkena sihir ni, selalunya menangis non stop and refuse to drink milk. So it is best if all the compliments dilapik dengan kalimah-kalimah Allah...like:

                                                        "Subhanallah..comelnya baby".

And it is best to read 3 Qul, Surah Al- Fatihah, Ayat Kursi dan surah Al-Nur (Ayat 35) untuk jauhkan dari sihir 'ain.

Takut jugak bila dengar tazkirah ni. But we hope for the best and mintak Allah jauhkan lah anasir-anasir jahat dari bayi-bayi kecil. Tak sanggup rasanya tengok baby menangis lama-lama...

Rat Race

Aren't we all trapped in one?

Often we all work long hours, doing the things we all hate, buying the things we don't need, to impress people we don't like. That says it all kan? For those who work 9 - 5, I feel you. Personally, I feel that we are  trapped in a RAT RACE, financially that is. The more income you make, the longer the hours you have to put in. And this goes on every single day...probably until you're retired.
Let's recall what we do when we get our paycheck..We pay the bills, we do grocery shopping, give some to our parents, yada yada, buy something nice for yourself...and belum sampai a few days..dah habis. So we limit our spending and wait patiently for the next paycheck to come...and again the cycle repeats.
Sadly a lot of people never get the chance to escape the RAT RACE. Academics alone is teaching us to fall for it, making the RAT RACE inevitable.

So how do we get out of this RAT RACE?

We WORK SMART. How do you it? Social media, networking, teamwork and many other channel. Of course things do not magically appear out of thin air, but you do know the long hours that you put in earlier, to escape the RAT RACE, will be paid off by having more free time later.

I'm tired of being in a RAT RACE. I want to WORK SMART. I would like to get an extra income, without having to spend LONG HOURS every freaking day. I want to spend money, without thinking about my next paycheck. I want to be with my family, without thinking about my annual leave, I want to travel the world, without waiting for AIR ASIA SALE!!

"No matter what you do in a RAT RACE, success is not guaranteed. But if you do nothing, FAILURE is"

Let's get out of this RAT RACE..shall we?

                 Lets do it together :)

The FIRST Step

I am one who does not like changes
I prefer to stick to the normal routine and not be interrupted with any hussle and bussle in life
But I guess at one point in life, we all have to take a FIRST step at something
a NEW job,
a NEW house,
a NEW family,
a NEW environment...
And all this requires faith..

If you ask me WHY i took this FIRST step?
It is because I have FAITH in it
It is because I want to CHANGE for the better
It is because I'd like to PROVIDE the very best for my family
It is because I believe there's MORE to life than wearing a blue uniform to work (yes, we have uniforms)

So what did I do?
I listened to what my sister in-law had to say. And if I may add, she is a superwoman. A CEO, mother of three, in great shape and a fabulous mentor. I simply listened, having no doubt in her integrity. The thing about business sharing is, you really need to listen and understand, because it is likely to be something good. No presumptions made, did my own research and then I decided, YES, I will take this FIRST step.

And until you take your FIRST step, you'll forever be in status quo. That's all it takes to follow those who are successfull - making the FIRST step. And if you are asking why you should take the FIRST step? Well, I guess that is an answer that only you alone know...

BELIEVE. PUT YOUR HEART IN IT...and let the show begin..

Help Gaza

What can WE do?

Please visit their website and you can see a lot of things that they have done. Masya-Allah tak tahu pun yang banyak sangat aktiviti yang dibuat untuk membantu rakyat Palestin. Rasa bersalah sangat...sedangkan di situlah masjid Al-Aqsa berada and as a Muslim, kita memang patut buat sesuatu untuk membantu membebaskannya dari ditakluk musuh.
Bukan nak mintak pergi berperang di sana, bukan nak mintak buat kempen besar-besaran, cuma nak mintak beri sedikit bantuan :

This is what we can at least do.....

Remember Salha Zain

Yes..Salha Zain.

I blogged about her earlier. Had a look at her website?

80 000 followers!??!?!?!!? seriously..who is she!??! When i first had a look at her website I was so impressed and dumfounded and I still couldnt believe how humble she was when i met her face to face.

Let's just say I am truly inspired by her success story. I read and re-read her page over and over again to find the courage, the will and the power to really take the first step towards something totally different than what I normally do.
I remembered this particular entry in her blog which says...

"nak jadi jutawan tapi golek golek tengok tv"... "macamana nak jadi jutawan"....

hahaha..memang menusuk jiwa sentence ni sebab until now, kalau tengah golek-golek tengok TV, mesti teringat kata-kata ni..dan TERUS BANGUN ya..

And who do I owe meeting her too, of course to another supermommy cum superwoman, my very own mentor, Lynn Shukor. The one who did Paris & London in less than a week. Are you kidding me!?

So I keep telling myself..it is all DOABLE..

And one thing, they keep telling us over and over again : ALWAYS BE YOURSELF

I'm Just Kidding

A good joke can definitely sparks up your day..
Here's one..

A teacher called upon the classroom to make sentences with words previously chosen.

The teacher smiled when Pete, a slow learner, raised his hand to participate during the challenge of making a sentence with the words "Defeat", "Defense", "Deduct", and "Detail".

Pete stood thinking for a while, all eyes focused on him while his classmates awaited his reply.

Smiling, he then proudly said,

"Defeat of the deduct went over defense before detail!".

Online Retail Therapy

I need to do something!..

....or else I'll end up broke....
My favorite pastime throughout this confinement period is buying things online. For those who does not buy things online, I have to tell you, it is one ADDICTIVE hobby. A big thanks to one smartphone and a gazillion webpages, i have manage to buy 3 breastpumps (definitely more than what I need!), hundreds of cloth diapers for Hussein, clothes for moi, multiple groupon vouchers and the list goes on.....

It's funny how easy it is to shop online as oppose to actually going to shop, seeing something in front of your eyes, feel it and actually paying for it with your own hands. For someone who does even own a credit card, it is definitely an overwhelming experience. But it make you feel good, real good.......

It makes you feel that you have actually accomplished something..hehehehe

And as for me, shopping online is made better via Facebook. Heck, there abundance of them!
My very own favourite would be the FSOTs. For Sale or Trade groups. Here, (mostly mommies) sell of preloved or new things at a good price. Highly recommended ! But of course you need to do your own research prior to buying.

So..here I am, hands itching to buy more cloth diapers...but I gotta give my bank account some rest. So I blog instead..

End of confinement..please come quik!!

Pray for Gaza

A Cry for Help
Awal Muharram 1434

I too, have a dream ...
that one day Jews and Christians
will see me as I am:
a small child, lonely and afraid,
staring down the barrels of their big bazookas,
knowing I did nothing
to deserve their hatred.
                                                                                                                     ―The Child Poets of Gaza

Insyaallah, our prayers are with them...

I would love to go to India!

India..

Yes, India. I have always wanted to go there.

Colourful saris in front of Taj Mahal

To go to Hyderabad where the colours make your eyes dance and the food makes your tounge sweat,
To go to Kerala which is believed to be God's own country,
To go to Agra where the scenic view makes your heart skip a beat,
and..of course to visit Taj Mahal which is the symbol of love for eternity.
